announcing the Reams of Rereads blog event – October 2018!

Guys, I have a problem.

I borrow bunches from the library, ‘buy’ Kindle freebies, sign up for ARCs and review copies…books have invaded my life in every way and I love it.  But all those shiny new books make me a little sad, too.  Because they mean that I don’t have much time to reread old favorites.

So I created…

Here’s how it works!

-Make a list of all the awesome books you’ve wanted to reread for forever but kept putting off because of Lack of Reading Time.

-Post the list on your blog (or, if you don’t have a blog, in the comments below) and link back to this post (if you have a blog) to proclaim your participation in this blog event.  I’ll add you/your blog to the list below of all the participants.

-When October 2018 comes around, tackle that list!  Even if there are a dozen new, awesome releases at the library. (Okay, I’m not going to force anyone to ONLY read from their list in October because I couldn’t even if I wanted to.  I’m pretty much going to read exclusively from my list throughout October, but do whatever works for you!)

-Don’t feel like you have to read every book on your list.  I know I won’t possibly get to everything I’ve got written down.  But I’ll sure have fun trying.

-Feel free to blog about your progress (or comment on my own progress reports with your own updates if you don’t have a blog).  At the end of October I’ll assemble a master list of all your (and my) posts (at the start of the event, I’ll create a separate post where you can keep returning to share your blog post links).

-This will probably be an annual thing if enough people join/enjoy it.

Here’s a smaller version of the button that you can share on your blog’s sidebar or in a blog post (or you can snag the one above – again, whatever works for you).

  1. This sounds like a lot of fun! I heard of this event and your blog through Olivia’s blog, Meanwhile in Rivendell. I thought this was such a neat idea, and there are plenty of books I’d like to get to rereading, so I’m planning to participate. 😀 I’m sure I won’t get to everything on my list either, but it will be fun trying anyway. 😛 Here’s the post on my blog with my list:

Thanks so much for hosting this, Eva! It shall be grand! 🙂

  2. Is there a deadline for entering this? It sounds like such a fun idea (and I have plenty of books I want to re-read—as a matter of fact I have a Goodreads shelf especially for them), but I’m just not sure yet if I can actually plan my reading for October this far in advance! If I can decide to jump in at the last minute, though, that’d be great.

  3. Oh, hm, I messed up. My mind read September in place of October. Well, in that case, I can join! Here’s my list of stuff I will re-read in *October*
The Fellowship of the Ring (maybe The Two Towers?)
    Daddy Long-legs
Probably Alice in Wonderland… I know it’s a “little kid’s book” but it’s really nostalgic for me, and it’s a one day read, so that’s not much time “wasted”😉
Hmm… That’s only three maybe four books and two of them are one-day reads…. Oh, well, I’ll try to think of more throughout the month.
By the way, do you think something’s up with WordPress? I keep getting those “congratulations you’ve won!” or those fake “you’ve been hacked, click here to fix it!” pop-ups. It only happens on WordPress, but it happens on every WordPress blog for the past month. I don’t know if it’s my phone or the WordPress website that’s to blame. One blog I read, you can’t even read it anymore, because there is literally a new pop-up every five seconds. I just wanted to tell you, because I haven’t gotten hacked yet, but I don’t know if your blog could be in danger of being hacked or not…
Anyway, sorry the long comments! I look forward to this challenge! I might blog about it, but I get nervous blogging… Thanks (and sorry)!

    1. Glad to have you! Don’t apologize – I love any and all blog comments, even if it’s just you figuring things out. 🙂

Great list! Of all those books, I’ve only read Daddy Long-Legs. I look forward to getting your thoughts as we dive into re-reading old favorites in October.

I’ve never experienced that phenomenon while reading WordPress blogs so I think it’s just your computer. Sorry. 😦

  4. Would it be okay if I told you my progress through that list even though it isn’t re-reading? I know that’s weird, but I’m kind of lonely and I’d like having someone I could talk to about reading!

  5. I am always re-reading books, although I haven’t read much this year, but I finally got some new reading material and am actually going to be reading some new stuff this month! Figures I’d decide to do it the one month I have a reason for re-reading stuff….😂. I’ve been reading some Shakespeare plays, then I will move on to reading some Dickens’ books that I haven’t got around to yet, Julia Ryan’s poetry book (from The Barefoot Blogger) then I’ll read To Kill A Mockingbird for the first time, and then come fall I will re-read The Hobbit so… That counts? That list sounds exhausting😂

  6. 1. I didn’t even notice you included Cloaked in that photo until like the third time I looked at it. Awwwwwwwwwww!

    2. I’m so in! I’ll post my list soon. Like, maybe even this afternoon.
